Manuel Almendro
Transpersonal Psychology and Psychotherapy
Original title:
Psicología y psicoterapia transpersonal.
About the book:
Transpersonal Psychology and Psychotherapy
This book is a wide-ranging synthesis, the first of its kind from a Spanish author, of a movement which is growing day by day throughout the world. A movement in which the mystic and the scientific, the rational and the intuitive, East and West, all complement each other and unite in a paradigm that is both new and old, which unifies matter, consciousness and energy.
It is not possible to go into the transpersonal without a process and previous training. For that reason, various different schools of psychology are looked at as a preamble to a new perspective: an inseparable conception of human beings as body, mind and spirit.
Thus, the author reviews a wide range of names and doctrines, being very careful to differentiate the transpersonal movement from other meretricious substitutes that have jumped on the esoteric bandwagon. It is also important, as the author sees it, to consider Breathing and Movement (vibration) as crucial in the process of healing and self-knowledge.
About the author:
Manuel Almendro, psychologist-psychotherapist, has experimentally worked his way through the fields of psychoanalysis, Gestalt and bioenergetics; he has profound knowledge of Zen and is in contact with a shaman from the Sierra Mazateca. At the present time he is working with Stanislav Grof in a synthesis which takes the spirit as the origin and driving force of healing.
