Majjhima Nikâya
Original title:
Majjhima Nikâya. Los sermones medios del Buddha
About the book:
Majjhima Nikâya
This is an excellent translation from the original Pali version of the Majjhima Nikaya, one of the principal collections of sermons by the historical Buddha.
Buddha’s Middle Sermons are the teachings that Buddha preached 2,.500 years ago in India and they constitute a very important part of the Buddhist canon in Pali (the language of the Buddha). These teachings were preserved for centuries in the monasteries of Sri Lanka and have gradually spread to the whole world, first in the East and then in the West, where interest in Buddhism in growing every day.
The present volume contains 50 of the complete 152 sermons, collected by themes and annotated in order to facilitate understanding. Up until now it was extremely difficult, if not impossible, to know these ancient texts in their integrity due to a lack of translations, certainly from the original Pali. We hope thereby to contribute with this excellent translation to a better knowledge of “Buddha’s teachings” as they were received and compiled by his first disciples.
