- A book which paves the way to surmounting the current impasse in western philosophy and generating much-needed intercultural dialogue.
This book fills an inexcusable gap in the literature. In the first place, it is a rigorous yet readable initiation into one of the most radical traditions in thought in Indian and the East, the advaita vedanta or vedanta of non-duality – according to one of the most outstanding exponents of the present time, Nisargadatta Maharaj.
Secondly, it is an introduction to one of the leading philosophers of the twentieth century, Martin Heidegger, from a novel and enlightening perspective which shows the advaita intuition to be a crucial key to interpreting his thought.
Thirdly, it is a comparative study of the two thinkers, transcending the East-West divide and establishing common ground between the two approaches.
