About the book:

Taking as a point of departure the study of a series of enigmas situated on the frontier between life and matter, the author puts forward a revolutionary vision of physics and biology.

What is matter?  When and how did life emerge? How did the continents form, or the oceans and the atmosphere? What factors determine the evolution and development of animal and plant species? And what is the story behind the great extinctions shown by the fossil record? Why has it proved impossible to find the fossil remains of an ancestral species? Where does Humanity come from? The polarity principle which manifests as light-darkness, expansion-contraction, contraspace- physical space,  ascendant macroevolution-adaptive microevolution, cosmic forces-terrestial forces, Cosmos-Gea .constitutes one of the most fecund principles in biology, since it is rooted in the reality of nature itself. With a clarity of exposition and a concern to educate which are uncommon indeed, this book encourages the reader to use his or her own ability to think and to observation to realise it for themselves.

Cosmos and Gea is also a tribute to the work of three great European geniuses of the life sciences: Johann W. Goethe,  Vladimir Vernadsky and James Lovelock.

About the author:

Francesc Figols is an industrial engineer with a diploma from Bath University of Technology. He was president of the Association for Biodynamic Agriculture in the nineteen eighties  and promoted the most advanced techniques of ecological agriculture. He has published many scientific articles of general interest in the magazines Dyna (official organ of the College of Engineers) Cuerpomente and Vital.
